The background to the song is detailed here by Caleb - I" wrote this song for my husband. It was written in the wake of his mother’s unexpected death, during a really rough period for our family. It was partly inspired by re-reading Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” which resonated with me quite a lot that year, which was the same year Trump was elected, so a very dark time all around. I wanted to write a song about holding on to what you’ve got, and I wanted to write something that felt very at home in the Christmas songs canon, but mostly I just wrote it as a way of expressing love and pain".
The track is included on It's Hard To Dance When It's Cold And There's No Music: Kill Rock Stars Winter Holiday Album Volume 2 by Kill Rock Stars and is the closing track on Caleb's 2022 album Ramon
