Shelly Harland seems to have led a rather interesting life. Born and brought up in Surrey, she relocated to New York where, under the moniker Harland, she recorded an album of electronic tunes, Salt Box Lane (2003). Whilst in New York she worked as a private investigator (which other singer songwriter can claim that for their CV?). Another move, this time to Sydney, Australia, resulted in the 2009 album Red Leaf for Sony. After signing with Chrysalis publishing, she has collaborated with a range of artists including DJ Rap, Delirium, Robert Smith, Gary Numan and John Cale. ‘In My Arms for Christmas’ is a beautiful ballad. One to listen to with all the lights turned down save for those on your Christmas tree.
