Led by singer Jeremy Hunt and guitarist Paul Towler, The Haywains were formed in Midsomer Norton back in 1988 and have a track record of delivering toe-tapping pop songs that somehow manage to super-glue themselves to the memory banks. South Africa’s specialist Indie-pop website Janglepophub summed up the bands appeal for a certain demographic (‘fat, middle-aged’) better than most, declaring them a band capable of transporting you on ‘the best trip to yesteryear that is possibly imaginable’. “Who Needs Summer?” Was released in 2016, three years after the band had re-formed, but has a killer chorus that’s as supremely catchy as anything the band produced in their glorious heyday.
